How To Start a YOUTH SOCCER TRAINING BUSINESS With No Money

At this point, our company has worked with youth soccer trainers in over 4 different countries. 

Many coaches ask me "how do I start a business with NO money"?

When I started my own soccer training business back in 2018, I did it with very little to no money.

I had just left a full time job to pursue my dream of being an entrepreneur and I was living off my savings for 3-6 months.   

Times were tough, but I knew in my heart that if I wanted this to work, then I had to go ALL in on it and approach it as if my life depended on it with NO DISTRACTIONS.

I could have found another full time job and started my own business as a "side hustle" but I didn't want to because I knew that if I did that I would eventually get distracted and my business would stay as a side hustle. 

Instead, I built the courage up to go out into the market place and tell people what I was doing and how I could help their child. 

If you want to make money you have to have COURAGE. 

I was almost never satisfied at my old job.

I was unhappy being told what to do all the time, I was always made to work un social able hours, I coached 30-40 hours per week with kids who didn't want to be there and I was constantly travelling long distances to coach for only 1 or 2 hours. 

I really disliked what I was doing. 

The most successful coaches we work with all value their time. They value their businesses and they operate day-to-day with a purpose. 

The THREE steps I took to start my own training business from scratch with NO money were: 

1. I learnt the game of SALES. 

With so much FREE information online today I realized very quickly that if I wanted to get my first client with NO money I would need to learn how to sell to parents. 

I would sit down in front of my computer for 1 hour per day and design a sales process for my business.

I wrote down how I would approach parents either in person or online, what I would say to the parent once I was with them, how I would close that parent on a FREE session with me and then how I would follow up and convert them into becoming a paying client. 

Once I had this sales process down and I was confident with it, I put it into practice with parents.

Within three weeks of trying it I had three parents join for a trial session with NO money spent on advertizing or marketing. 

2. I would go to watch games every weekend at my local park

I studied my local area like never before.

I looked for places where kids would hang out with their parents. I quickly realized that my local park hosted a ton of soccer games throughout the weekend with on average 15-30 parents on the side-lines watching their kids play every game. 

That was 30 parents x 3 games per day = 90 potential parents I could get in front of  in one day!

I attended games both Saturday and Sunday and put myself out there to parents.

I would start conversations with parents, ask them questions about their child, build some type of trust with them and then tell them about my business and how I wanted to help local players in my area through private training. 

I did this for 6-months in a row, and slowly parents started to trust me enough to give me their phone numbers.

Once I had their phone numbers I would follow up with them and invite them for a free trial session. 

This process cost me ZERO money and gained me 3-6 new clients per month. 

3. "You cannot be successful if you don't give something up"

Many coaches want to be successful entrepreneurs. 

They want to have hundreds of clients weekly, they want to live an extravagant lifestyle with big houses and fast cars, they want to go on vacation when they want and spend money on expensive watches and meals.  

All those things can be achieved, but only when you have the right systems in place with your business. 

When I left my full time job, I left behind my own daily STRUCTURE. 

I wasn't made to get up early anymore to be at work for 9am, I wasn't forced to work long hours every day or told when I can or can not go on vacation with my family. 

I wasn't tied to a pay check anymore. 

I had to figure out how to best structure my own day so I could be successful.

I had to decide what I was going to do with all that free time so I could be productive and push my business forward.

I had to build self-discipline. 

Most coaches struggle with this and it hurts them in the long term.

When I built self discipline in my day I essentially gave up all distractions that weren't pushing the needle forwards in my business.

I gave up all family vacations for a while, I gave up going out on the weekends with friends and partying, I gave up watching soccer on TV and social media. I gave up eating out and being wasteful with my money. 

I was 100% committed to making this work for me and for my family. It was many months of complete focus and I started to see results very quickly with my business. 

With ZERO money spent.
